There is a time and a purpose for everything under heaven. Whether you picked up the phrase from Ecclesiastes or the Byrds, it remains true. I am so excited to turn the page into this new season with you here at Grace UMC.
2020 was a year of change and challenge for everyone. Churches will never be the same again. Yet, we do know that the Word of God remains steadfast. My priority in these early days is to get to know you and this neighborhood and to look for the signs of where God is leading us now. Before I arrived, Grace was discerning if they are called to continue as a solo congregation or join with Chapelwood UMC. That process will resume shortly with plans to answer the question before the end of the year.
We are reopening, and new program opportunities are on the horizon. We have a unique opportunity at this stage to evaluate all we've done and dreamed of doing. The work of the church is to make new disciples and help people grow in their discipleship. Letting that guide our ministry choices will make us a strong and healthy church.
I look forward to meeting each of you. I also wanted to take a moment to say thank you for the tremendous welcome Patrick and I have received. The boxes of supplies were a Godsend during our move. Everyone has been welcoming and warm. We are overwhelmed and so honored to join you.
I hope if you have any questions or concerns in the coming week, you will call or see me in the office.
Grace and peace,
