It is finally time to say “Hello” to Pastor Kate! She and her husband, Patrick, will be moving into the parsonage next week, and Kate gives her first sermon this Sunday! We have a Welcome Luncheon the following Sunday, July 11, that you can register for here: https://www.graceintheheights.org/register. If you can’t make it to one of her first Sundays, be sure to write her a note of welcome, bring by a housewarming gift for her pantry, or give her a call to welcome her.
Pastor Kate was one of the first people I connected with at Centenary College of Louisiana. It was the second semester of freshman year, and I still felt like I had no friends. I found a new roommate, and she happened to be friends with Kate’s roommate, and soon we all formed a little group that had fun together, especially by watching movies together on Friday nights. Patrick was also a part of this movie night club, and Kate, Patrick, and I were all in Church Careers together. Our senior year, Kate and I were both a part of the Maroon Jacket group at Centenary, who acted as the official ambassadors for the campus.
I am happy to mention that we are $75 away from fully funding our scholarship for our young person to go to UM ARMY! This young person and I will be going to Bryan, TX, for a week where we will sleep on the floor on air mattresses, shower in school showers, work in the hot Texas sun, and worship at the church where we are staying. It will be a fabulous week, and I can’t wait to share pictures and stories with you. We will be praying over the participants on Sunday, July 11, so I hope you can join us for the service and Pastor Kate’s welcome lunch. You can give to the scholarship fund here: http://www.graceintheheights.org/youthscholarship.
We have officially opened up registration for Vacation Bible School, and our wonderful preschool is sharing the news with their students and their friends. We hope that you will share it too! We have VBS August 6-8, and the times are Friday 5:30-7:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. until around 2 p.m. Sunday includes singing for the church congregation and a fun party afterward! We would love to have you volunteer too, and we need helpers to lead children around, teach crafts and science, and feed the participants. Please sign up wherever you are able to help. You can find the sign-up on our Register page. https://www.graceintheheights.org/register.
