“I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor.” 1 Corinthians 3:6-8 NIV
It is finally time to make that transition; to say “goodbye” to Collin and anticipate saying “hello” to Kate. Sunday will be a bittersweet day, as we celebrate the fathers in our lives, and also say goodbye to our pastor and celebrate his ministry with us. The wonderful thing is that the seeds that Collin planted, Kate will water them, and God will make them grow. I love this Bible verse because it reminds me that ministry isn’t just about us. It’s about God. What God does through us, and in spite of us.
On Sunday, we will have donuts, juice, and water, outside the sanctuary before church to celebrate fathers. More upcoming events include UM ARMY mission trips for those who have finished 6th grade or above, and Vacation Bible School, August 6-8th. We are having a weekend VBS this year and will end the weekend at church, where we get to share the stories with the congregation, and then go outside for food and fun. If you would like to contribute to a scholarship for a young person who wants to go on the mission trip, you can do so by following this link.
I hope that you will come and celebrate Pastor Collin’s ministry with Grace on Sunday, or that you will find some way to reach out to him and thank him for all his contributions.
