Hello future volunteer. Yes, you.
We have Vacation Bible School coming up in about two weeks, and we need several adult or youth volunteers. Our major stations this year will be crafts and science, so we need lead teachers for that, and we also need volunteers to lead students around. Other areas where volunteers are needed include feeding ministries, like making dinner on Friday and lunch on Saturday, decorating, and singing and dancing. The Boy Scouts are bringing a grill for Sunday so that they can cook hot dogs for the children and their families. The families of the preschoolers at Grace Weekday will all be invited to attend worship on VBS Sunday, regardless of if they attended VBS or not because they have learned the songs and stories all summer long.
We need you to volunteer. To teach, to shepherd, to dance and sing, to decorate, to donate food, and even to invite children you know. A simple way to invite others is to share a post about VBS to your Facebook newsfeed. You can sign up to volunteer or register a child to attend VBS here: https://www.graceintheheights.org/vbs.
To follow up on last week’s post about the UM ARMY camp in Bryan, TX, we completed 22 sites! We built 6 wheelchair ramps, 2 porches, 1 set of steps, 4 handrails, 2 doors, 11 exterior paint jobs, 3 exterior siding jobs, 2 roofing repairs, 13 screen installs and repairs, 3 yard work, 2 trash haul off, and 6 other kinds of jobs. Our camp was mostly junior high students, but they did an amazing job helping others. One of the clients even revealed that she had been praying for help the day before we called her to say that a group was coming to help her out.
Thank you for your prayers and all the ways that you invest in the young people in our community. Several of the sign-ups for VBS have come from the families of our preschool students, so I hope that you will find a way to invest in them by volunteering.
