My best friend and I were chatting this week and discussing how we felt like we were in a bit of a pause time. I reminded her, and myself, that Advent is exactly about that, it’s a time to wait, pause, and prepare for Jesus. It’s okay if you take a pause before December really gets going. We had a great response to Snow Day, and Messy Church is tonight, and later this month we will have our Angel Tree wrapping party and then present delivery, and then Christmas Eve… It’s okay to pause now and remember to take the time to enjoy things.
In chapel, we talked about everything that looks different in the sanctuary, including the Chrismon tree. The children had fun telling me everything they saw on the tree. We sang this song (to the tune of “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.)
Advent is a time to wait
Not quite time to celebrate
Count the candles one by one
Until Advent time is done
Day by day we work and play
To prepare for Christmas Day
I hope that you find time to pause and reflect on the season, even when it inevitably gets very busy.
