There are at least 200 kids in the elementary age group where our students are located, and around 700 total at camp this week. My cabin has tried new things like using a slingshot to fling paint at targets. Other fun activities have included a neon dance night, swimming, and water gun fights.
This week, we are studying Romans 12:2, "Don't be conformed to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you can figure out what God's will is--what is good and pleasing and mature." The theme is "Under Pressure", and it amazes me how much more pressure children feel now compared even to when I was a child. The pressure of state tests, activities, and other things designed to help them succeed as adults is very overwhelming.
So this week, we're talking about how we don't have to give into all the pressure that the world brings and that what matters most is following after God. Keep praying for us. Pray that the young people at camp learn about God and decide to follow God.
