Greetings all in the name of Christ!
We are going to spend the next few weeks addressing anger from a Christian perspective in our new sermon series, "Confronting Anger." I believe there is a misconception in our society that anger is a negative emotion. There is another misconception within the Church that we as Christians shouldn’t get angry. But are either of these true? Regarding anger, some of us struggle with it on a daily basis for one reason or another. Still others of us don’t consider ourselves angry people at all. Perhaps you’re a person somewhere in the middle, but whether you struggle with anger or not, one thing is for sure – we all get angry. Whether it is at our children, our parents, our boss, our spouse, or our best friend, we all get angry from time to time. It could even be in traffic when someone cuts you off. Whatever the reason, this is something all humans have in common. But what should our response be to anger? And are there different types of anger? Over the next few weeks, we’ll talk about anger, our Christian response to it, and what the Bible says about it. I hope you can make it!
Also, I want to invite you to a special presentation! On Sunday, November 17th we’ll welcome the Rev. Mike Tyson (no, not THAT Mike Tyson) as he teaches us about the new local church governance structure called, “The One Board Model.” Instead of having multiple committees that govern the church, a new way of running a church has emerged that utilizes one Single Board. Is this right for our church? Well, come to this workshop and find out! This meeting will take place RIGHT after worship in our Fellowship Hall. This will be a potluck lunch, so please bring your favorite covered dish to share, and let’s put our best foot forward and welcome Rev. Tyson!
Yours in Christ,
