Greetings all in the name of Christ!
This Sunday, we begin a new sermon series called, “The Toy Story Gospel.” Some of you may not be aware, but the fourth iteration of the original 1995 Toy Story movie came out this summer. The movies that make up this tetralogy all focus around toys that come to life and experience situations that often lend themselves to the Gospel. As such, we’ll spend the next four Sundays discussing the life lessons that Woody, Buzz, and the gang learn, and where those lessons line up with the teachings of Jesus and the church. Each week, we’ll watch a clip from the movie on which we’ll be focusing so don’t worry if you’ve never seen the movies.
Also, this Sunday is a particularly important one. Over the last month, we’ve been asking you to pick up a tag from our backpack tree and bring the supplies back to the church. This Sunday is the day the items are due! Bring them back so that we can ask God’s blessings on them, and upon the students that wear them. In addition, if you have a student at home, please bring their backpacks and lunch boxes to church, too! We’ll ask God to bless them as well. The staff from Grace Weekday School will be present, and we may have a few guests from Burrus Elementary!
Finally, after worship, we’ll head down to Fellowship Hall (with its brand new HVAC system!) for a potluck meal to officially kick off the new school year. I hope you can make it!
See you this Sunday in the GOD WORKS FOR GOOD place.
