Greetings in the name of Christ!
I want to remind you that our monthly mission opportunity is this Saturday. For those of you who are unaware, our church has adopted a Harvey house – a house that was flooded during Hurricane Harvey. This house, located just 10 minutes north of our church in Independence Heights sat untouched for 18 months after the waters receded. Working through Houston Responds and Hope Disaster Recovery, our teams have now completed gutted the house. This Saturday, we will not be doing the usual backbreaking labor that was demo. Instead, we will be remediating the home. Though the mold that was present has been killed, we still need to paint all the studs with a mold-resistant substance. This is much easier work so if you’ve been hesitant to participate, this might be the perfect Saturday for you to get involved. As always, we will have free childcare available at the church from 8:15 AM – 3:15 PM. If you have a kiddo in the nursery, you’ll need to bring a lunch for them.
This week in worship, we will continue the series on how to Love Like Jesus by examining that time when Jesus asked Zacchaeus to come down from the tree. In order to understand why Jesus speaking to Zacchaeus was so impactful, we’ll try to learn a little bit more of who Zacchaeus was. Also, we’ll learn why Jesus inviting himself to dinner would have been a scandalous move.
I hope to see you this week in the ALL ARE WELCOME place.
Yours in Christ,
