What a tense time we have all been having with the development of Imelda! It seemed like it would just be a rain event for Houston, and it quickly became a tropical storm. After Harvey, we all seem to have a touch of PTSD when we hear about a named storm headed to Houston. I hope you have stayed safe and dry, and that you have found some peace in the middle of this storm.
When fearful times happen, I frequently sing a song with Grace that she can repeat after me. It goes, “Do not be afraid, God is with you, everywhere you go, God is there.” This song has been helpful in many situations, and I will be teaching it to the children at the next Messy Church, on October 2nd. The theme for Messy Church is a “light party” which is all about how Jesus is the light of the world, and when we walk with him, we don’t have to walk in darkness. Since so much of Halloween is focused on being scared, this Messy Church will be a way to encourage children to not be afraid. Non-scary costumes are welcome!
Don’t forget that we are having a Grandparents Breakfast on Sunday at 9:30 AM. Please feel free to come, even if your grandchild or grandparent lives far away. I would be happy to match you with a church grandparent or grandchild.
