Greetings all in the name of Christ!
Although Easter Sunday is now in the rearview, the Good News continues! Last Sunday, I spoke a bit about the few days immediately following the crucifixion but before the resurrection. The Disciples and other followers of Christ went through a crucible of emotions from anger to despair, and from fear to disbelief. However, after Christ has appeared to them and they began to realize the gravity of what that really meant, the Disciples began to gather up the courage. Even in the fact of immense uncertainty and doubt, they found confidence enough to face down the naysayers.
As the tragic bombings in Sri Lanka have illustrated for us we, like the Disciples, live amidst a great deal of doubt and fear. We’ll examine some of the Disciples actions immediately following Christ’s ordeal on the cross and see what they can teach us about how to act in our world. If the Disciples could act with courage with the very real threat of death hanging over their heads like Damocles’ sword, might we, too, be able to also act with courage?
I hope to see you this week in the I’M NOT AFRAID place.
