Greetings all in the name of Christ!
This week in worship, we’ll begin a new sermon series called “The Gospel according to The Greatest Showman.” If you’ve ever seen the movie, “The Greatest Showman” starring Hue Jackman, this title may sound familiar. The movie very loosely tracks the great PT Barnum and how his famous three circuses got their start over 100 years ago. The movie is a musical and there are a large number of songs that carry strong Christological themes. Songs such as, “Come Alive” which talk about how once we were dead people, but now walk around as though we are alive for the first time. From the main character’s perspective, that means his potential audience needs only to come alive to his new concept of a show, but when we put it into terms of the Gospel, we were dead once until we encountered or discovered the life-changing love of Christ. Another song called, “The Other Side” talks about how we don’t really know love until we see if from the perspective of “The Other Side.” These songs and still more will guide our conversations over the next few weeks! I am very much looking forward to it, and I hope you are, too!
I can't wait to see you in the GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD place this Sunday!
Yours in Christ,
