Collin's Weekly Column: Upcoming Confronting Anger

Greetings all in the name of Christ!
This week, we’ll wrap up our sermon series “The Gospel According to The Greatest Showman” discussing how Jesus was constantly drawn to people on the other side.  Wherever we place divisions amongst ourselves, Jesus would tell us to break it down. We’ll spend some time this week talking about what the other side might mean for Grace UMC.
Next week, we’ll start a very important sermon series during which we’ll talk about anger.  Now, you may not be an angry person, but you have to admit that we live in a society that seems angry.  In my opinion, it seems to get angrier by the minute.  All you have to do is drive on any one of Houston’s many freeways to see anger exhibited.  What makes you angry?  Is it traffic?  Is it your children?  Your spouse/significant other?  Perhaps it is your parents!  Whatever it is that makes you angry, we all have that in common.  That is to say, we all feel angry about something from time to time.
I believe there is a common misnomer about Christians that says we shouldn’t get mad.  Have you ever thought that your anger isn’t very Christian or felt bad because you’re angry and don’t think you should be?  Beginning on November 10th, we’ll examine what the Bible says about anger, and how we as Christians ought to deal with that particular emotion.  I’m looking forward to it, and hope you are, too!
See you this Sunday in the GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD place.
In Christ,
