Today marks the day of the completion of our Angel Tree project! It was a few months of preparation work getting the names of the children, the sizes of their clothes, and their present suggestion, putting it on the tree, and of course, volunteers going shopping for their child. On Sunday, we had a great time wrapping up the presents, and our Daisy Girl Scout Troop even packed up bags of candy for the children to receive. We had some bonus stuffed animals that we added to the bag for a little extra touch.
Because of your generosity, 35 children, and their families will have a merrier Christmas. These may be the only gifts that they receive this year. I hope that you will say a prayer for everyone that received gifts from us, that they will know they are loved and cared for by someone else.
I listen to KSBJ, and every Christmas season, they talk about “choosing joy.” It is more than just choosing to be happy. Today started out a little rough for me, but by the time we finished chapel, finished wrapping and loading up all of the gifts, and delivering them, I can heartily say that I chose joy today. I hope you will too.
Thank you for your generous spirit. Merry Christmas! I hope to see you at the Christmas Eve service.
