A Message from Mary: A Future with Hope

This past week has been the annual meeting of our branch of the Methodist Church. Our conference runs from Texarkana roughly down to College Station and over to Galveston. It’s a wide area, with lots of Methodists in between. At this Annual Conference, our church won an award for Christian Education! We applied for the Five Stars of Excellence in Christian Education, and we received the award thanks to the dedication of Pastor Collin, our Sunday School teachers, my work, and everything that volunteers have contributed to over the past year.
It can sometimes be hard to see hope in this world filled with war, disagreements, hunger, discrimination, and so on, but I see a lot of hope in our little church. On Pentecost, we will have a profession of faith from our confirmand. We have had several infant baptisms this year and a profession of faith. We have 23 registered children for Vacation Bible School, and 14 adults helping, and we still have a need for a few more to cover all our spots. We have two going to summer camp. We are rebuilding a house in our neighborhood, and we have supported an elementary school through gifts and serving their teachers. There is a lot to be thankful for, and a lot of hope for the future here.
Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.” May you continue to believe in the hope that God has for your life and for the life of the church.
